Why Is My Transaction Still Pending in Phantom?

A transaction still pending in Phantom is one the wallet has sent but has not yet seen confirmed. On Solana that normally lasts a few seconds. If it has been sitting there for minutes, the usual answer is that the network never picked it up and it has quietly expired - and your balance is untouched.

Why pending can mean already gone

Every Solana transaction is stamped with a recent blockhash, which works like a ticket with a time printed on it. The ticket stays valid for about 150 blocks, a little over a minute, and after that the network will not accept the transaction at all, however long you wait. Phantom sometimes keeps showing pending past that moment, because the wallet is still waiting for an answer that is never coming.

How to tell what really happened

Open the pending item in Phantom and view it on Solscan.

  • Not found. It expired or was dropped. Nothing moved and nothing was charged, so send it again.
  • Success. It went through and the wallet display is simply behind. Closing and reopening the app usually catches it up.
  • Fail. It was processed and rejected. The small fee was taken, and the error line says why.

What makes it happen

Congestion is the common cause. When the network is busy, a transaction sent at the default priority can wait too long and expire before a validator reaches it. A weak connection produces the same symptom for a simpler reason: the request never left your device. Raising the priority setting one notch in Phantom and sending again clears most of these.

Resist the urge to press send five times while the first attempt spins. Each press builds a fresh transaction, and any of them that land are real, with a real fee - and on a swap, the extra one can fill at a worse price. Wait a minute, check Solscan, then send once more. Why a Solana transaction fails covers the rejected case, and priority fees and compute units explains the setting worth raising.
