Ether ETF Outflows Pass $1.08B in October as Bitcoin Funds Add $550M

US spot Ether ETFs have given back $1.08 billion since 1 October, more than the $832 million they took in across all of September. Cointelegraph and COINOTAG carried the figure within nine minutes of each other on Wednesday morning, both leaning on SoSoValue's tally of the funds' daily creation and redemption filings. Bitcoin's funds spent the same two sessions going the other way and added about $550 million. Eight US trading sessions are left in the month. Ether's funds have now run negative five in a row.

Four readings of one Tuesday

Tuesday's ether number is where the accounts part company. Cointelegraph's Wednesday piece puts the month past $1.08 billion "after adding $26 million on Tuesday," which reads as money coming in. Bitcoin.com News, TokenPost and COINOTAG all describe the same session as a withdrawal, at $26.13 million, $26.13 million and $26 million. Two PANews flashes carried by KuCoin put it at $26.1 million out. Four accounts against one, identical in size and opposite in direction. They do not reconcile. Cointelegraph's own October total is the same $1.08 billion the outflow accounts give, and we could not square that against its Tuesday wording.

Where the money went instead

Bitcoin's two days did the work. SoSoValue's figures, as reported by Bitcoin.com News, show $526.60 million on Monday and $23.16 million on Tuesday. BlackRock's IBIT took $29.86 million of the Tuesday total and Fidelity's FBTC $3.58 million, while Bitwise's BITB lost $10.29 million. Bitcoin's funds are still about $67 million down for October. The month's inflows arrived in a single session and have not covered the earlier hole, left when bitcoin ETFs erased October's inflows in the first week.

"MSBT is probably the purest, frankly. That's why you don't see any outflows from MSBT's product," Andrew Parish of AP Abacus said, in remarks one outlet carried and no other confirmed.

The price did not follow the flows

Ether closed Tuesday at $2,446.62, back above the $2,400 line it has crossed in both directions in each of six UTC sessions, on TokenPost's reading of Coinbase's ETH/USD market. Its low in the 20 October session was $2,369.51. The month has cost ether 9.7%, from $2,700 to about $2,438 at Wednesday's publication times, and nearly 18% across 2026 on CoinGecko's numbers. Bitcoin sat at $82,954 in the same hour, down 2.2% on the month and 5.3% for the year. TokenPost is explicit that six days of trading on either side of $2,400 do not establish the level held as a floor.

Eight sessions left to settle it

Ether's funds hold $14.98 billion, about 5.01% of the asset's market value, and BlackRock's ETHA is $8.05 billion of that. ETHA was the only one of the eleven ether funds to report an outflow on Tuesday, at $33.02 million; FETH and Grayscale's ETH each took in a little over $3 million. The five-session run began on 14 October and has cost $388.9 million, Monday's $103.3 million included. Last week ether funds shed $320 million against bitcoin's $228 million, a third straight losing week. Whether October closes as the worst month since November 2025, which is Cointelegraph's framing, or the worst of 2026, which is COINOTAG's, depends on the eight sessions still to come.
