Bitcoin ETFs Take $730.9M in a Day, Their Biggest Since January

US spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds took in $730.87 million on Thursday, their largest single day of net inflows since 14 January. BlackRock's IBIT accounted for $453.96 million of that. The session sits inside a week of about $986.9 million and a three-week stretch of $3.8 billion, which Cointelegraph and Bloomingbit both call the strongest run of net inflows this year. Bitcoin traded between $79,716 and $81,200 across Thursday and Friday and ended the week up about 2.6%. Money kept arriving while the price slipped.

Thursday's first counts were far smaller

The figure took a day to settle. This desk reported on Friday morning that two provisional tallies for the same session were on the record and far apart, CoinDesk with about $277 million and The Block with $100 million, in a piece on bitcoin's 90-day correlation with gold. Neither outlet has published a revision naming the distance between those numbers and the settled one, and The Block's report of the larger figure makes no reference to its own earlier count. Flow estimates are compiled fund by fund and revised as the day's creations and redemptions are confirmed, so movement is ordinary. A factor of seven is not.

Where the money landed

The day was concentrated. IBIT took 62% of the total on TheStreet's arithmetic, with ARK and 21Shares' ARKB next at $137.74 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $74.45 million. Grayscale's Bitcoin Mini Trust drew $48.79 million and Bitwise's BITB $24.76 million. Two funds went the other way, VanEck's HODL losing $19.58 million and WisdomTree's BTCW $5.16 million. Volume across the group was $4.77 billion, on Bitcoin.com News's count. The week's leaders were the same names: BlackRock at $691.5 million, ARKB at $137.7 million, FBTC at $94.8 million.

A 2026 ranking nobody agrees on

How the day places depends on who is counting. crypto.news, TheStreet and The Block all describe it as the biggest since 14 January, when the funds took $843.62 million. Bitcoin.com News calls it the third-largest single-day haul of 2026. A Yahoo Finance video headline calls it the best day of the year. Third-largest and best cannot both hold, and no account lists the days that were bigger. We could not establish which reading supersedes the other.

The year is still short

Three good weeks have not fixed 2026. Cointelegraph's tally has US spot bitcoin funds about $1 billion net negative for the year to date, against $863 million of inflows for ether funds and $515 million for XRP funds; that year-to-date reading sits in one account and no other outlet reviewed here carries it. Cumulative net inflows since launch stand at $55.69 billion on crypto.news's figures and $55.6 billion on Bloomingbit's. Assets under management do not reconcile either: $103.34 billion after Thursday's session on two accounts, $101.3 billion on Bloomingbit's Saturday figure. The two are a day apart and neither says whether it measures the same basket. Runs have broken abruptly before, and in August a nine-day inflow streak ended with a $202 million outflow.

The other funds cooled while bitcoin's ran. Ether ETFs drew $218.4 million for the week on Cointelegraph's count, down 74% from $824.4 million; crypto.news puts the same week at $215.3 million and the week before at $815.7 million. Both the current figure and the base differ between the two accounts. XRP funds took $19 million, down 83% on Cointelegraph's series. What next week's data settles is whether the bitcoin run reaches a fourth week, and whether anyone goes back to explain Thursday's first counts.
