Bitcoin ETFs Snap a Nine-Day Run With a $202 Million Outflow

30 Aug 2026by CryptoJazz Admin1 min read9 views

US spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds shed $201.9 million on Friday, their first negative session in nine. The run it ended took in $3.04 billion. Only Morgan Stanley's fund closed the day positive. Bitcoin opened Friday above $80,000, fell as far as $77,078 and spent the weekend in the high $77,000s.

Where Friday's money left

Ark 21Shares' ARKB carried more than half of the day, at $114.9 million out. Bitwise's BITB followed at $49.7 million, BlackRock's IBIT at $33.4 million and VanEck's HODL at $13.2 million. Morgan Stanley's MSBT took in $9.3 million, the only credit on the sheet. Every outlet that published a per-fund breakdown gives those same five numbers, which is rarer than it sounds on a flow day. The headline total is written four ways: $201.9 million by CryptoSlate and crypto.news, $201.8 million by Cointribune, $201.81 million by Coingabbar, and $202 million rounded by The Crypto Times. That is one figure at four precisions.

Two totals for August

The month does not reconcile. The Crypto Times, writing on Saturday, puts August net inflows at $3.1 billion and calls it the strongest month of 2026. Cointribune, the same day, gives $3.3 billion. The gap runs to about $200 million, and neither account mentions the other. What they agree on is the run itself: nine sessions, $3.04 billion, heaviest on 20 August at $606.3 million. By the seventh session of that streak, August had already passed $3 billion.

How big the funds actually are

Assets are reported two ways. Cointribune puts the complex at $97.6 billion, Coingabbar at $97.59 billion and CryptoSlate at about $97 billion. The Crypto Times says the group passed $100 billion during the buying run. Cointribune alone bridges the two, describing the current level as a fall back from a brief peak above $100 billion. Coingabbar adds that the funds hold 6.28% of bitcoin's market value, and puts cumulative net inflows since launch at $54.63 billion against CryptoSlate's $54.6 billion.

Everything else kept buying

Ether funds took in about $102 million on the same session, and the reporting splits again on how long that has been running. The Crypto Times counts ten straight days of ether inflows. Cointribune counts twelve. Both are describing Friday, and neither shows its start date. XRP funds added $26.2 million. Solana funds are given as $17.3 million by CryptoSlate and $18.08 million by Coingabbar, a day after Bitwise's Solana fund passed $1 billion. The direction is the one thing nobody disputes.

"Since this breakout began, we have seen nothing but inflows. More importantly, the cumulative buying has now made this the strongest streak of ETF inflows of the entire bear market," the research account Ecoinometrics said in a note carried by CryptoSlate.

The tape into next week

That note was written while the streak was still running. Friday's price is itself reported four ways, between about $77,500 and $77,709, on daily moves of 2.5%, 2.9% and 3.2%; different snapshot times explain most of the spread, and no outlet states the time it used. Cointribune puts the 50-week moving average at $81,081, a level the price failed to hold last week, and that figure sits in one account. The same outlet carries an analyst's tally of $6.4 billion in bitcoin options expiring on Friday morning and links the fall to it β€” a connection no other account makes, and one an expiry alone does not establish. The Crypto Times reports US inflation at 3.7% over twelve months and 4.1% over six on the Federal Reserve's preferred measure, again alone in this batch. One outflow settles nothing about whether the run was a turn or a pause.
