Pavel Durov Announces Launch of Story Format in Telegram in July

“For many years, our users have been asking us to implement Stories in Telegram. More than half of all feature requests we receive are related to stories,” said Durov.

So soon we will launch Stories – in Telegram format:

  • Privacy: You will be able to precisely determine who can view each of your stories: everyone, only your contacts (with exceptions), a few selected contacts, or a list of close friends.

  • Compact User Interface: Stories will be placed in an expandable section at the top of your chat list, making them easily accessible without taking up valuable space.

  • Flexibility: It will be easy to hide stories published by any contact by moving them to the “Hidden” list in the “Contacts” section instead of the main screen.
  • Captions: In addition to using dozens of powerful tools for editing photos and videos, you will be able to add captions to your stories to provide more context or links, as well as tag other people.

  • Dual Camera Support: Building on the success of Telegram’s video messages, we are adding the ability to post photos and videos taken with both the front and back cameras simultaneously.

Availability Time Customization: You will be able to choose when your story expires – after 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours – or keep stories permanently displayed on your profile page with individual privacy settings for each.

  • Even More Surprises! 🤩

The ability to save your stories on your profile page will make Telegram profiles more informative and colorful. You will not only be able to view more content from your closest contacts but will also finally learn more about the users you interact with in groups or comments on channels.
