D-ID Introduces New API for Conversing with AI-Powered Digital Humans

D-ID, an Israeli company known for using artificial intelligence to create unique experiences like Deep Nostalgia, has announced the launch of a new chat API that enables face-to-face interaction with an AI-powered digital human. The announcement coincided with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona.

Currently, the company offers the API to businesses for branding purposes and enhancing customer service. The premise of the API is to provide a “human-like” interface for conversational AI. According to D-ID’s press release, with new real-time streaming capabilities and text-to-video technology, clients can integrate large language models like GPT-3 and LaMDA to deploy interactive digital assistants.

This new offering allows developers to create photorealistic digital assistants that can engage with consumers in a more human and captivating manner.

“Large language models like GPT-3 and LaMDA are changing how we relate to and interact with technology, and we are not far from having personalized AI assistants and companions,” said D-ID CEO and co-founder Gil Perry in a statement. “We are making technology more human by giving it a face and making interactions more natural. I am very proud of D-ID, which continues to remain at the forefront of the emerging generative AI industry.”
