Elon Musk Announces Twitter’s Employee Count at Around 2,300

On January 21, Elon Musk tweeted that Twitter Inc. has around 2,300 employees.

CNBC reported on Friday that Twitter’s workforce has shrunk to about 1,300 active employees, including fewer than 550 engineers.

Approximately 75 of the 1,300 employees are on leave, including about 40 engineers, CNBC reported, citing internal records.

“This is incorrect. Twitter has around 2,300 active employees,” the billionaire Musk wrote in a tweet, responding to the CNBC reference.

“Thousands of contractors are still working, and the Trust and Safety team still has hundreds of employees,” Musk added.

Musk took over Twitter in October and quickly implemented a series of operational and organizational changes. The company introduced paid account verification and laid off about 50% of its staff.
