BMW i Vision Dee Concept Car with Color-Changing Body

At CES 2023 in Las Vegas, BMW unveiled the i Vision Dee (Digital Emotional Experience) concept car. The vehicle features a minimalist design and a body capable of changing color and responding to its owner’s mood. To create this concept, BMW utilized E Ink Prism 3 electronic paper film from E Ink Yuantai Technology, which can also be applied in other industries.

The body of the i Vision Dee is divided into 240 independently colorable segments and can completely change its color. Currently, a palette of 32 two-tone colors is available.

Using its headlights and grille, the i Vision Dee can display various emotions. BMW believes this feature allows the car to communicate with both the driver and pedestrians.

The windshield and part of the side window surfaces feature a projection display integrated with BMW’s voice assistant. The display’s area can be adjusted from a narrow strip to the entire windshield. The projection dashboard controls the display, providing information about the car’s status and augmented reality interfaces.
