Tesla Announces Platform for Simultaneously Charging Three Devices Priced at $300

Remember the Apple AirPower charging mat? Announced in 2017, the device was supposed to charge three gadgets simultaneously, but Apple never released it, citing technical issues. Now, Tesla is giving a chance for such a device to exist by announcing its own wireless charging platform that can charge three gadgets at once.

Inside the aluminum casing designed in the style of the Cybertruck, is the FreePower wireless charging platform from the startup Aira. This multi-device charging platform is also used by other manufacturers, such as the Nomad Base Station Pro. The technology provides fast charging up to 15W on all devices simultaneously. According to the manufacturers, users can place their devices anywhere on the Alcantara mat, and they will charge regardless of their position.

However, convenience doesn’t come cheap — Tesla’s Wireless Charging Platform is priced at $300.

Aira, the company that developed the charging platform, was founded in 2017 and has since raised $16 million. The latest funding round took place through investors in 2019, including Javad Ahsa, Lori Greiner, and Robert Herjavec.
