💠The launch of spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for Ethereum, which was expected on July 2, has been delayed. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requested a resubmission of S-1 forms from potential issuers by July 8. This could push the ETF launch to mid or late July.
💠Earlier in June, Bloomberg analysts had forecasted the ETF launch for early July, based on the absence of significant comments from SEC staff regarding S-1 applications. However, the approval process for S-1 forms has taken longer than anticipated.
💠The first stage of the ETF launch process involved the approval of the 19b-4 forms from issuers in May. The SEC approved 19b-4 applications from eight ETF candidates on May 23. SEC Chair Gary Gensler confirmed that the process for approving spot Ethereum ETFs is “progressing smoothly.”
