Ether Holds $1,900 With the 200-Day Average Still at $2,061

Ether Holds $1,900 With the 200-Day Average Still at $2,061

Ether spent Saturday 8 August consolidating above $1,900 without threatening the level that matters to it. Blockonomi recorded the token between $1,910 and $1,918; the Sunday Guardian, publishing at 15:19 India time, gave $1,913 to $1,917, up 1.14% on 24 hours, with a session range of $1,893.08 to $1,937.17, a market capitalisation of roughly $231 billion to $233 billion and 24-hour volume near $8.8 billion to $9 billion. The token sat above its 20-, 50- and 100-day moving averages and below its 200-day at $2,061, with $2,000 the nearer resistance. Nothing in the day resolved which of the two it goes to first.

Three outlets, three ether prices

The day's quoted level depends on who published it. Blockonomi's $1,910 to $1,918 band sits close to the Sunday Guardian's $1,913 to $1,917, and the two at least overlap. A third digest recorded $1,929 and a 1.4% gain over 24 hours, a print outside both of the other ranges. The weekly change is reported two ways as well: the Sunday Guardian gives 2.68% over seven days, Blockonomi more than 4%, both on 8 August. These do not reconcile into one figure, and we could not establish which snapshot supersedes which. The likeliest explanation is unremarkable, different capture times on a Saturday and different reference exchanges, but it means any single ether print for the day should carry the outlet's name with it. The $1,893.08 low and $1,937.17 high are the only intraday extremes on the record.

$1,900 below, $2,000 and $2,061 above

Support sits at $1,900, with a deeper band at $1,820 to $1,750 that has not been tested since ether marked its deepest drawdown since the 2025 peak. Above, $2,000 is a round number that has repeatedly capped the token. Behind it sits the 200-day moving average, the average closing price of the past two hundred sessions and the line traders treat as the boundary between a recovering market and a falling one, at $2,061. Ether is in the unusual position of trading above its short and medium-term averages while holding below the long one. That is what a recovery looks like before it is confirmed. Momentum readings from a single source put the four-hour relative strength index at 61.74 and Bull Bear Power at 32.07, both mildly positive and neither decisive.

Targets with conditions attached

The analyst commentary published around the level was uniformly conditional.

Ted Pillows: "should ETH sustain its position above this threshold, we could witness a push toward $2,000."

MichaΓ«l van de Poppe named roughly $2,400 as an extended target, contingent on ether clearing both $2,000 and the 200-day average. Two conditions, neither met. Matt Mena of 21Shares, in comments carried by one digest, described ether as "showing strong relative strength and angling to reclaim the key $2,000 resistance level," and said bitcoin "now looks poised to retest $66,000." None of these is an observation of anything that traded. All are forecasts that require a level to break first.

A macro push ether has not converted

The week's tailwind came from the July payrolls release, which showed the US economy shedding 23,000 jobs with unemployment at 4.1%. What that was measured against is itself disputed. Expectations on the record range from about 80,000 payrolls added through 83,000 and 85,000 to a pre-release consensus of roughly 97,500, and one digest reported that the prior two months had been revised down by a further 103,000. Two-year Treasury yields fell 4.8 basis points to 4.197% on that report and the dollar index slipped 0.32%, per the same digest. Spot ether funds ran four consecutive positive sessions into it, part of the week in which spot bitcoin funds took in $853.54 million. Ether has had softer rates, a positive flow week and a July return its backers describe as its best month in a year. It is still below $2,000. Until that level goes, the conditional targets stay conditional.
