How to Find a TxID or Transaction Hash

A TxID — short for transaction ID, and also called a transaction hash — is the receipt number for a crypto transfer. It is a long string of letters and numbers that the network assigns the moment your payment is broadcast, and it is how anyone can look that payment up afterwards. Think of it as the tracking number on a parcel: with it you can follow the delivery yourself instead of taking the sender's word for it.

Where is the TxID in your wallet or exchange?

It always lives on the sending side, in your history. In MetaMask, open the Activity tab and tap the transfer; the hash sits at the bottom, next to a copy button and a link to the explorer. In Ledger Live, open the account, tap the operation and look for "Transaction ID". On an exchange such as Binance, Coinbase or Kraken, open your wallet's transaction history, find the withdrawal and expand the row — the TxID is beside the amount and the destination address. Some platforms label it "Transaction hash" or simply "Hash".

What does it look like?

On Bitcoin and Ethereum a TxID is 64 characters of letters and digits, and Ethereum's start with 0x. Solana's are longer and mixed case. Whatever the network, use the copy button rather than typing it out — one wrong character and the explorer finds nothing at all, which is alarming when it is only a typo.

What do you do with it?

Paste it into the block explorer for that network and you can see the status, the number of confirmations, the fee paid and the exact address the money reached. It is also the one thing a support team asks for: if a deposit has not appeared, the TxID lets them find the payment in seconds. A screenshot of your wallet does not do that; the hash does.
