Why Is My Crypto Withdrawal Pending?

A pending crypto withdrawal is stuck in one of two places, and telling them apart takes about a minute. Either the exchange has not sent it yet and it is waiting in their review queue, or it has been sent and the blockchain has not confirmed it. The test is simple: if your withdrawal has a TxID, the exchange's part is finished and you are waiting on the network. No TxID means the coins have not left the exchange at all.
Why does the exchange hold it?
Exchanges run checks before releasing funds, and most delays start here. A brand-new withdrawal address, a recent password or two-factor change, a login from an unfamiliar country, or an unusually large amount can all trigger a manual review, and many platforms freeze withdrawals for 24 to 48 hours after any security setting changes. Coins bought with a card or a bank transfer are often locked until that payment fully clears. Exchanges also send payouts from cold storage in batches on a schedule rather than one at a time. Binance, Coinbase and Kraken all describe these holds in their help centres, and the fix is usually finishing the verification step they emailed you about.
Why does the network hold it?
Once broadcast, a transaction waits for confirmations. On Bitcoin a low fee during a busy hour means a long queue; on Ethereum a low gas price does the same. The receiving side then adds a rule of its own: many exchanges want a set number of confirmations before crediting a deposit, so a payment can be settled on the chain and still show as pending in the destination account for another hour.
What should you do?
Find the TxID in your withdrawal history and paste it into the explorer for that network. If the status reads success, screenshot it and take the question to the receiving platform. If there is still no TxID after a few hours, the question belongs to the sending exchange β and never to anyone who messages you first offering to release it for a fee.
Test any new withdrawal address with a small amount, and add addresses to your whitelist a day early so a security hold does not land at the moment you actually need the money. If the wait turns out to be on the chain, what to do about a stuck bitcoin transaction covers the fee side, and how to find a TxID shows where to start looking.
