Dogecoin Labs Takes Over MyDoge, DogeOS and Such App Under One CEO

Dogecoin Labs Takes Over MyDoge, DogeOS and Such App Under One CEO

Dogecoin's scattered product teams now report to one company. Dogecoin Labs launched on Wednesday with the three pieces of consumer software built on the network to date: MyDoge, a self-custodial wallet, meaning one where the user holds the keys; DogeOS, an application layer; and Such App, a merchant payments tool still in beta. The announcement went out at 07:45 ET, datelined Dubai, and names the Dogecoin Foundation as a partner in the formation. Jordan Jefferson, who founded MyDoge and DogeOS, is chief executive. The intellectual property and the development teams come from the Foundation and from House of Doge.

What the new company owns

MyDoge is the piece with users. The release puts it above 500,000, grown without paid acquisition, and The Block repeated the figure on Wednesday morning. Version 3 has rolled out "in recent weeks", and no date is given. Such App's beta sells goods and services for DOGE, with invoicing and in-person QR codes; The Block names House of Doge and Brag House as its developers. Crypto News Flash reports that merchants can convert takings into dollars or stablecoins, and calls Dogecoin Labs a for-profit company. Neither detail appears elsewhere. The Foundation says it keeps its stewardship role, its open-source work and its advocacy.

"No other digital asset has Dogecoin's combination of liquidity, community and cultural reach," Jefferson said in a statement.

The app layer is still a testnet

DogeOS is the part the company's case rests on, and it is not finished. Its public testnet opened on 30 September, a date the release and The Block both give. It runs the same smart-contract code Ethereum does, so developers can bring existing tooling. There is no mainnet date in any account read here, and the featured applications are listed as coming soon. Crypto News Flash adds detail no second outlet carries: a single approved operator currently orders transactions, and the network change that would let Dogecoin miners verify DogeOS activity is still a draft. Fees are paid in DOGE. Jefferson's claim in the release is about what becomes possible, not what has shipped: "With DogeOS, developers can finally build applications on Dogecoin."

Two prices for the same Wednesday

DOGE moved up on the day, and by how much depends on who is counting. Crypto News Flash, citing CoinMarketCap, had it 4.1% higher at $0.08236. A separate market report the same day put it at $0.080060. The two readings are about 2.7% apart, neither carries a timestamp precise enough to settle which came first, and they do not reconcile. The Block's ticker showed 3.97% without a dollar figure, and U.Today's "around $0.08" sits comfortably with both. Crypto News Flash also has the token roughly 22% below its 22 September high of $0.10589, a comparison only that account makes. The fund side has been thinning: Bitwise moved in September to close its Dogecoin ETF, trading in it stopped on 14 October, and cash is due to remaining holders on 22 October at the previous day's value.

What has no price and no date

The terms are the part nobody has published. The release gives no funding amount and names no investor. Crypto News Flash reports that House of Doge, which trades on Nasdaq, hands over its product, engineering and commercial teams for an undisclosed equity stake, that its exclusive Foundation arrangement becomes a long-term license, and that some closing conditions still apply; no other account read here describes the structure at all. So the deal is not demonstrably closed. Such App's planned integration with DogeOS has no date. Nor does anything else on the stated plan. Payments is the measurable test, because merchant fees are what a crypto rail has to undercut, and Such App has published no fee schedule. Tim Stebbing, a director of both the Foundation and the new company, put the ambition in general terms, calling Dogecoin "a currency for the people, shaped by an open community of developers and contributors". The organization chart changed on Wednesday. The mainnet did not.
