Bitcoin Opens November in Its Tightest Range Since 17 October
Six hundred and fifty-six dollars separated bitcoin's overnight high from its low on Sunday morning, the narrowest span since 17 October. CryptoTicker read the price at $77,725 at 06:29 UTC, up 0.79% over 24 hours, inside a high of $77,750 and a low of $77,094. That works out at 0.85%. Across the 29 fully traded days of October the median daily range was 2.28%, and six of those days ran past 3%. November opened on the quietest tape in two weeks.
A flat day on heavy turnover
Volume did not match the stillness. Turnover over the same 24 hours came to $44.1 billion against a 30-day median of $27.8 billion, which is a lot of trading for $656 of movement. The Fear and Greed Index, a sentiment gauge running from 0 to 100, printed 34 after sitting at 30 on each of the two preceding days. Market capitalisation was $1.562 trillion on CryptoTicker's reading. CryptoPotato, publishing two and a half hours later off CoinMarketCap data, had it at $1.560 trillion, with bitcoin dominance just under 60% and the whole market at $2.620 trillion, up $20 billion on the day. Two clocks, two data sources, $2 billion apart.
"What is missing is a side that wants to shift the price," the CryptoTicker piece said.
October's loss, counted twice
CryptoTicker put the monthly close at $77,223, down 7.67% from a September close of $83,640, and called it the first losing month since June. CryptoPotato published 88 minutes later with 7.32%, its headline rounding to 7% and its body saying "over 7.3%". The three months before October do not match either. July runs 7.63% against 7.27%, August 19.95% against 25.05%, September 7.70% against 6.37%. The August gap is more than five points. We could not establish which series either account is drawing from, and neither names one. What both agree on is the break in a pattern: six consecutive green Octobers came before this one, five of them double-digit.
Two lows for the same Friday
Friday is where the month's damage was done, and the two accounts do not agree on how far it went. CryptoTicker's low for 30 October is $76,338, inside a 5.80% daily range that ran $4,431 from $80,769. CryptoPotato calls Friday's bottom a six-week low of $76,100. The figures are $262 apart and neither piece mentions the other. Friday was also the day $643 million left spot bitcoin funds and the day the monthly options expiry pulled the price under $77,000. By Sunday the week's low sat $1,387 below the market, about 1.8%. The levels named underneath are $77,051 from Friday morning, then $76,615 and $76,338; above, $77,750 first, then interim highs at $78,107 and $78,638.
The band meets a fuller week
US bitcoin ETFs resume trading on Monday, on CryptoTicker's account alone, and no other piece read here carries that date. Altcoins stayed close to flat with it. Ether traded at $2,270, up a little over 1% and roughly $100 above its Friday low. BNB came back from below $700 to about $710. XRP was at $1.25, solana at $95, avalanche at $8.80, and LINK, litecoin and UNI were 3 to 4% higher. Tron went the other way, down nearly 5% to $0.31. One token broke double digits: LIT, which CryptoPotato put up more than 16% above $3.10, and which a separate news-feed headline the same morning had at 18%. That second figure stands unverified here. As for the month ahead, the record it opens against is wide rather than instructive, with November 2025 closing down 17.5% and November 2024 up 37.36%. The question Sunday leaves is narrower than any of that. A range this tight holds only until something arrives to test it, and the funds reopen first.
