Ripple Releases 1 Billion XRP While October's Billion Sits Unspent
Ripple's escrow opened on schedule. The on-chain tracker Whale Alert logged two releases of 500,000,000 XRP each at the company in the early hours of Sunday, 1 billion tokens in total, each tranche valued in its own post at $626,430,089. That is the monthly instalment of a programme running since December 2017. What nobody reading the ledger can say yet is how much of it stays out. Ripple has sent most of each month's tokens back into escrow over the past year. The two wallets holding October's tranche had spent none of it as of 29 October.
Three accounts, three answers on what comes back
Finbold, publishing at 09:45 UTC on Saturday, put the return at about 700 million XRP a month, 70% of each release, across the 12 months through October, with about 300 million kept out. TokenPost, publishing four hours earlier the same morning, counted the year instead: 12 billion XRP released between November 2025 and October 2026, of which 8.4 billion went back into escrow and 3.6 billion stayed outside it. That is the same 70%. The third account, boerse-global.de at 16:11 UTC, says 600 to 800 million is typical and puts the net addition to circulation at 200 to 400 million, attributing the band to media reports it does not name. About 700 million and a 600-to-800-million band are not the same claim about the same month, and nothing read here settles which supersedes which. Both are carried.
"Releasing tokens from an escrow contract and selling them on the open market are distinct events," the boerse-global.de piece said.
October's tranche has not moved
Two Ripple-controlled wallets each held 500 million XRP as of 29 October, from the 1 October release, and neither had recorded an outgoing payment. Coinpaper read the same balances as 1 billion sitting across two wallets, and noted that Sunday's tranche could take the pair to 2 billion. A billion tokens is the scale of the treasury Evernorth's shareholders approved in a merger. Reaching the release date does not shift anything by itself. Ripple has to submit an EscrowFinish transaction, the ledger instruction that completes an escrow, and escrow tracking put the moment the month's billion became releasable at 00:00 UTC on Sunday. Why the October wallets have stayed still is not something the chain answers.
Two supply bases that do not add up
TokenPost gives circulating supply as 63.4 billion of the 100 billion maximum, or 64%. Finbold reports that wallets holding at least 10 million XRP between them held 46.87 billion tokens, about 68.5% of circulating supply. Those two do not sit together: 46.87 billion against 63.4 billion is 73.9%, and 68.5% implies a circulating supply nearer 68.4 billion. Neither account states the base it used. The price under all of it moved very little. XRP was at $1.24 at Finbold's Saturday press time, down about 0.9% on the day and more than 2% on the week, and at $1.25 on Sunday morning. Its 50-day moving average sat at $1.39 and its 200-day at $1.28, with a 14-day relative strength index of 37.46 against the 30 that marks oversold.
What shows up on the ledger next
Fund flows point in different directions depending on the window. Finbold counted $3.61 million of outflows from US spot XRP ETFs in the week to 29 October. boerse-global.de counted the five funds at net outflows of $496,496 on 30 October, a day after net inflows of $8.43 million. Those are separate windows, not a contradiction. The day before the release, 310 million XRP changed wallets within minutes. Two further movements were reported the same day: 120 million from a Ripple-linked address to an unknown wallet, and 190 million arriving at Ripple from unknown wallets. The account carrying them says they are not confirmed to be connected to Sunday's tranche, and this desk treats them as movements observed, nothing further. Separately on the ledger, the fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment slipped to 4 November after a two-hour dip in validator support. The transactions that would lock the remainder of the billion back up are the next thing due to appear, and no date for them has been published.
