Tether to Launch USAT Stablecoin in U.S.

🟩Tether, issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin (USDT), is expanding into the U.S. market with a new product: the USAT dollar token. The coin will be issued through Anchorage Bank, with reserves held by Cantor Fitzgerald. Unlike USDT — widely used in emerging markets as a hedge against currency instability — USAT is tailored to meet GENIUS Act compliance and designed for U.S.-based enterprises and institutions seeking fast, reliable digital payments.

🟩Tether CTO Paolo Ardoino noted that demand in the U.S. differs from other regions, where USDT often functions as a store of value. The appointment of former White House advisor Bo Hines as a strategic consultant highlights the company’s serious ambitions. If successful, USAT could solidify Tether’s foothold in the American market and intensify competition with Circle, whose USDC has long dominated the domestic stablecoin landscape.
