Mining Ban Hits Energy Sector

🟦Restrictions on cryptocurrency mining in Siberia have resulted in major losses for energy companies. In the Irkutsk region, more than 300 MW of capacity was freed up, but no new consumers emerged, leading to losses of 800 million rubles (nearly $10 million).

🟦From January to March, mining was banned in several regions, reducing the load by 320 MW. However, miners have gone underground, continuing operations in the “gray” zone. Authorities plan to introduce seasonal restrictions until 2031, but experts believe that bans will only strengthen the shadow market.
