Mining Ban in 13 Regions

🔴The Government Commission on Energy Development has approved a ban on cryptocurrency mining in 13 regions of Russia starting in December 2024, Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak announced. Moscow is not included in the list. The restrictions will affect the Irkutsk Region, parts of Buryatia and Zabaykalsky Krai, as well as Ingushetia, Dagestan, Chechnya, North Ossetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

🔴The decision stems from subsidies on electricity in the face of potential energy shortages. Additionally, taxation on cryptocurrency transactions will be introduced starting in 2025.
