USDC Burned on Arbitrum but Not Minted? How to Finish a Stuck Transfer

If your USDC was burned on Arbitrum but not minted on the other chain, nothing has been destroyed in the way the word suggests. Native USDC does not travel. Circle's transfer protocol burns it on the chain you are leaving and mints the same amount fresh on the chain you are going to, and those are two separate transactions. Yours is stuck between them, and the second one can almost always still be sent.

Why a transfer has two halves

Think of an airport currency counter rather than a parcel service. Nothing physically crosses the border: a clerk takes your notes on one side and a colleague hands you new notes on the other, with a signed slip passing between them. Here the slip is an attestation. Arbitrum burns your USDC, Circle's service signs a message confirming it, and only then can the destination chain mint. A standard transfer waits for the source chain to settle, usually fifteen to twenty minutes; the fast option takes seconds for a small extra fee.

Where yours is stuck

There are only two places it can be. Either the signature is not ready yet, in which case waiting is the entire fix, or the signature is ready and nobody has submitted the mint. The app you used normally sends that final transaction for you, so it stalls when you closed the tab, lost connection, or had no gas token in the destination wallet at the moment it tried.

How to finish it yourself

Before anything else, check the destination wallet properly: switch MetaMask to the right network and add USDC as a token by hand, because a wallet shows nothing for a token it has not been told about. If it genuinely has not arrived, open the same bridge site you started on - typed in by hand - and connect the same wallet, since only the address that burned can claim the mint. The transfer will be sitting in the history with a Claim or Complete button next to it. Keep a few dollars of the destination chain's gas token ready, because that last step is a real transaction.

A small test transfer first costs a few cents and saves an afternoon like this one. And nobody legitimate will message you about a stuck transfer: every helpful support agent who appears in your replies is after your seed phrase.
