Unable to Withdraw Cryptocurrencies? What Is Blocking You and How to Fix It

If you are unable to withdraw cryptocurrencies, something is blocking the request before it ever reaches the blockchain. Usually it is your account: a safety lock, an unfinished check or a limit. The good news is that the screen almost always tells you which one, if you read the message closely.

What does the error message mean?

Think of the exchange as a bank branch with a very strict teller. It will not hand over cash until every box on its list is ticked. The common messages on Binance, Coinbase or Kraken translate like this:

• "Withdrawals disabled for 24 hours." You changed your password, email, phone or two-factor app. It is a safety lock against thieves, and it lifts on its own.
• "Complete verification." Your identity check (KYC — sending an ID and a selfie) is missing or was rejected. Finish it in account settings.
• "Amount exceeds limit." You hit a daily cap for your account level. Send less, or raise the limit.
• "Address not whitelisted." You turned on an allow-list of addresses. Add the new address and wait out its short delay.
• "Withdrawals suspended." The exchange paused that coin, often for a network upgrade. Check its status page, or pick another network if the coin offers one.

What if the button is missing entirely?

Then the block is usually on the coin, not on you. Some exchanges only let you trade certain tokens, not send them out. On Robinhood and PayPal, for example, withdrawals were added later and still only cover some coins. Check the exchange's help page for that token before you buy it.

When is it a scam, not a block?

A real exchange never asks you to pay a "tax", "unlock fee" or "verification deposit" before it releases your coins. That demand is the classic sign of a fake investment site, often found through a stranger on a dating app or a messaging group. Paying once only leads to the next fee. Stop, pay nothing, and keep screenshots.
