Griffin AI Exploit Freezes Project

🔲On September 25, Griffin AI suffered a major exploit that allowed an attacker to mint 5 billion fake GAIN tokens via a LayerZero vulnerability. The assets were quickly swapped and cashed out for an estimated $3–4 million, crashing the token’s price by over 90%. The incident underscored how cross-chain bridges remain one of the weakest points in DeFi, enabling attackers to bypass supply controls.

🔲The community reaction was split. Some users accused the developers of potential insider involvement, pointing to suspicious addresses used in the exploit. The Griffin AI team attempted damage control by asking exchanges to suspend GAIN trading and withdrawals. Still, the attack severely undermined confidence in the project and raised doubts about the resilience of its ambitious DeFi–AI hybrid model.
