DeFi Faces Decline in Interest

🔲Against the backdrop of a cryptocurrency market correction in 2025, the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector is showing a noticeable decline in key metrics. The volume of user funds locked in DeFi protocols fell from $135 billion in December 2024 to $94.5 billion in April 2025, a decrease of around 30%.

🔲Experts attribute this decline to the sector’s immaturity and the shift of investors towards more familiar and liquid centralized solutions. DeFi protocol revenues also decreased by more than three times, from $291 million in January to significantly lower values in March.

🔲The share of decentralized exchanges in total trading volume dropped to 11.3%, which is the lowest since September 2024. Despite this, Ethereum continues to maintain leadership in the DeFi ecosystem, accounting for more than 52% of all locked assets.
