🔷The Ethereum team is discussing a proposal to quadruple the gas limit on the network’s first layer — up to 150 million. This initiative, introduced by developer Sophia Gold in EIP-9678, could become a key component of the Fusaka hard fork, which is set to follow the Pectra upgrade expected in May. According to developers, raising the limit could significantly boost throughput without a major protocol overhaul.
🔷Tim Beiko noted that the change would require close coordination between clients and validators and might entail additional technical adjustments. Preparing a separate EIP will help synchronize clients in advance and stress-test the system. The Fusaka release is scheduled for late 2025, and if implemented, the initiative will mark a major step toward Ethereum’s scalability.
