XRP's Market Cap Sits Near $89B Against Bitcoin's $1.59 Trillion

An Instagram post circulating this week set XRP beside Bitcoin and the world's stock markets. It marked XRP at $90.25 billion, Bitcoin at $1.59 trillion and equities at $169.88 trillion, then argued that XRP has room left to grow. Checked against public data on 9 September, one of those figures holds, one is close, and one sits well above anything a public tally supports. The gap on the third runs past $12 trillion.
Where the XRP figure lands
CoinGecko put XRP's market capitalization at $89.25 billion on 9 September, with the token near $1.42 and about 63 billion coins in circulation. Slickcharts, reading the market at 9:59 that morning, had it at $89.16 billion. Neither matches the post's $90.25 billion. The difference is roughly $1 billion, a little over one percent, which is what an ordinary hour of trading can do to a token this size. The slide carries no timestamp, so we could not establish which moment it was captured from.
The direction of the claim is not in dispute. XRP has already passed USDC to become the fifth-largest crypto by market value, and at $89 billion it remains a small fraction of Bitcoin. That much the numbers support.
The Bitcoin number holds up
Bitcoin's $1.59 trillion is the cleanest figure on the slide. Slickcharts had it at $1.585 trillion on Wednesday morning. Coinbase's own price page showed $1.579 trillion the same day, against roughly 20.08 million coins mined so far. The two readings sit about $6 billion apart, which is normal for trackers pulling from different sets of exchanges, and both round to the same place. On that count the post is accurate.
The equities number is the outlier
The $169.88 trillion attached to global stock markets is the one we could not source. Visual Capitalist, working from World Federation of Exchanges data supplied through SIFMA, put the world's listed markets at $157.8 trillion at the end of 2025. BusinessStats, drawing on the same exchange federation alongside World Bank series, had about $152 trillion as of 30 June 2026. CompaniesMarketCap, which adds up 11,249 listed firms on a live basis, showed $154.7 trillion when checked on Wednesday. Three tallies, three methods, and not one of them reaches $169.88 trillion.
The post names no source for its figure. It stands unverified. The three public readings do not reconcile with it, and they do not fully reconcile with each other either: the spread between the highest and the lowest is close to $6 trillion.
What the post argues
The rest of the slide is argument rather than reporting. XRP is still early, the post said, and its market value is tiny next to Bitcoin and the stock market. If adoption keeps growing, it went on, a lot of room is left.
"We're not late. We're early," the post said.
None of that is checkable, and the comparison is doing the work that adoption data would normally do. Network activity has been uneven. Order-book volume on the XRP Ledger rose 79% even as the count of active traders fell. A larger market cap does not follow from a larger chart.
Two numbers to use, one to park
The Bitcoin and XRP readings are close enough to public data to work with. The equities number is not. Until the author names a source for it, it should be read as an assertion, and the assertion is load-bearing. The wider the gap drawn between XRP and the stock market, the longer the runway the post implies. Bring $169.88 trillion down to the $152 trillion to $157.8 trillion band the exchange federation's own data supports and the picture stays lopsided. It is just lopsided by less.
