Apple is working on a new iPad Mini with a fresh processor, with the release expected by the end of next year or the first half of 2024, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities, a well-known Apple product analyst, in his tweet.
He also mentioned that it is unlikely Apple will replace the Mini with a foldable iPad in 2025, as the foldable device would be much more expensive than the Mini, making it an unsuitable replacement for the Mini.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The last update to the iPad Mini came in 2021, with the sixth generation, which brought improvements such as a better display, a USB-C port instead of Lightning, a more powerful processor, upgraded cameras, and a magnetic Apple Pencil mount on the side of the device.
Meanwhile, foldable phones from several other manufacturers (Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, and Xiaomi) are already available on the market. Rumor has it that Apple has been working on its own foldable device for some time. It’s worth noting that the company has often allowed other companies to release new technologies and formats first before launching its own version.
