A poll created by Elon Musk on Twitter asking whether he should “step down as head of Twitter” concluded early on Monday morning (December 19), and the majority of respondents voted in favor.
Musk said he would abide by the poll results, which began on Sunday evening and ended with 57.5% voting “yes” and 42.5% voting “no.”
More than 17 million people participated in the poll regarding a leadership change at Twitter. Recently, Musk has been seen in chaotic mass layoffs, the restoration of banned accounts violating Twitter’s rules, and drastic policy changes to the social network, which are made and reversed in real-time.
Musk did not immediately respond to the poll results.
“No one wants to work with someone who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor,” Musk wrote on Twitter. “The issue is not finding a CEO, it’s finding a CEO who can keep Twitter alive.”
