Reuters reported that Twitter Inc. will relaunch its Twitter Blue subscription on December 12, with the subscription priced at $8 for sign-ups via the website and $11 for those subscribing through the Apple iOS app (the higher cost reflects the 30% commission fee taken by Apple). The paid subscription will include features such as verification with a blue checkmark, the ability to edit tweets, and upload videos in 1080p.
Twitter initially launched the Twitter Blue update in early November, but had to suspend it due to an influx of fake accounts. A relaunch on November 29 was also delayed.
After acquiring Twitter for $44 billion in November, Elon Musk tweeted a series of complaints about Apple, accusing the iPhone maker of its high 30% commission and threatening to remove Twitter from the App Store. However, after meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, Musk tweeted that the idea of removing the app from the App Store was a misunderstanding and has since been resolved.
