According to Bloomberg, Apple has begun developing an entry-level MacBook Pro. The new model will serve as an alternative to the current 13-inch version powered by the M1 chip. It’s worth noting that in October, the company introduced its popular MacBook Pro lineup.
As reported by Bloomberg, Apple has opted for technical compromises in the new device. Specifically, the new MacBook is expected to feature less memory and a smaller screen size. It will also lack ProMotion support. These changes are intended to reduce the cost of the new MacBook Pro and make it more accessible to consumers.
Despite these adjustments, the developers have equipped the laptop with the latest M2 processor. According to the publication, the computing power of this chip is higher than the M1, though it falls short of the M1 Max and M1 Pro. Apple plans to use this chip in the MacBook Pro as well as in other updated “Macs”—the Mac mini, MacBook Air, and 24-inch iMac. The new laptop may be available to customers later this year.
