How to avoid becoming a victim of “address poisoning” when using cryptocurrency

🔷Ledger warns about a scam known as “address poisoning,” where scammers send a small amount of cryptocurrency or NFT to a user’s wallet. The goal is to make the user copy the scammer’s wallet address and send back a “voucher.” This leads to funds being sent to the fraudulent account instead of the legitimate one.

🔷To deceive users, scammers use open-source software to create addresses that resemble Ledger wallet addresses. They can generate addresses with identical first four or five characters and last four or five characters.

🔷If you suspect that your wallet might have been compromised or notice a suspicious transaction in your account, it is better to ignore the transaction and any associated addresses. Avoid interacting with any suspicious tokens or NFTs sent to you.

🔷The only potential risks for wallets include exchanging or entering the 24-word recovery phrase or signing a malicious transaction with a Ledger device.
